ACCORDING TO GRANDMA'S RECIPE
In the old days, the pan of cholera was put in the coals to bake. The German word for coal in the Valais is chola or cholu. In Valais, the term cholära also refers to the open antechamber in the bakehouse where the coals were collected in a pit in front of the oven door. However, there is no certainty about the origin of the word. What we do know is that our cholera is a must-eat in the LANDHAUS and therefore our favourite dish. Enjoy your meal!
